Title: Christian Educator – Pre School thru Middle School
Purpose: Planning for, developing, and supervising the Christian education of the youngest members of the church. This will primarily involve Sunday School, although planning the annual V.B.S. program and annual Christmas Pageant are also expectations.

Hours: Year round position with an expectation of an average 5 hours per week.

Accountability:

  • Accountable to the pastor as head of staff.
  • Day to day activities, concerns and assistance relative to job responsibilities are guided by the Christian Education Team, under the governance of Session.
Responsibilities:

  • Be present Sunday mornings
  • Coordinate the education activities of the church for her youngest members
  • Keep abreast of educational needs of the younger age groups in the church
  • Serve as member of Christian Education Team
  • Recruit volunteers to teach Sunday School
  • Set up and carry out teacher training.
  • Select and implement curricula.
  • Foster effective communication with families, our congregation and our wider community via phone calls, email, the church website and other media as appropriate.
  • Communicate with Office Administrator in coordinating aspects of scheduling and in providing weekly bulletin announcements as needed and monthly newsletter articles.
Evaluation: The Christian Educator shall report to the Pastor, in consultation with the Personnel Committee. Reviews may be held as needed, with a goal of a minimum of every six months. Annual review to be held in October.

Note: Can be combined with position of Youth Minister.
